The Way The World Wide Web Works
Phew, that's a lot of Ws! Try saying that while looking in the mirror. Do you look like a
goldfish or what? Seriously though, if you have a website and are unsure about the wisdom of
linking to other sites, you should read this article about the way the web was conceived—and
the way it really works. If you've ever been frustrated by conventional searching, or
the difficulty of attaining a decent search engine 'ranking', it should strike a chord, and
perhaps lead to a rethink about how to find, and make things more findable, on the WWW.

Linking To Us
We welcome and appreciate all links from websites that recognize the value of the
resources we offer here. To make things easier for you we have included a number of
readymade links for copying and pasting into your pages. Click
here to go to our Link Resources page.
We employ a unique reciprocal linking method designed to offer maximum benefit to
link trade participants. Sites that link to us and request a reciprocal link are
viewed by us for relevance and are first considered for an entry in one or more of the
101 Answers directories (all of which
are high traffic sites and are linked from this site). They are:
Of these, some are chosen for entry as Favorite Links on this site
as well as retaining their entry on the other 101 Answers site(s).
To have your site featured on one or more of the most appropriate of
the 101 Answers directories (and
benefit from the resulting traffic) please read and take note of our Link
Acceptance Policy (below), then email the information
requested under What We Need From You.
We do not accept all submissions so don't be offended if your request is
turned down (we always explain why when this happens). However, most would qualify for
one or other of our sites provided they match one of the themes.
Link Trading
Special consideration is given to link trade submissions but be sure to
actually include our link on your site first. We
will want to view it and to decide if your site should be approved as a Favorite
Link. The procedure for trading links is the same as link requests for entry in
one of the 101 Answers directories
except that you need to include the URL address to the link page on your site
that shows a link to our site (see item 5 below under What
We Need From You).

- The correct title of the website you are submitting
- A brief description of what it is about
- The site address (URL)
- The 101 Answers site it
best seems to fit (optional)
- The URL of our link (in the case of link trade submissions)
Type Link Submission in the Subject line and email this data to us at
101news with Link
Submission on the Subject line. (For more details click
here.)
What You Get From Us
Traffic
The number one return for you, of course, is traffic, and hopefully lots of it. We
can't guarantee how much, of course, because that depends on things like demand for
your product or service, the way your link is worded, and so on, but our site traffic is certainly increasing in
leaps and bounds. Why not capture some of it?.
Valuable Content
As a reciprocal Link Site (which means you have a link on your site to 101 Newsletter Answers and we reciprocate with a
link on one of our sites to yours), you benefit by being able to offer more quality
content to your visitors. Very few website visitors are aimlessly surfing but actually
looking for specific information. By trading links you get to add our content to
yours, so to speak, without having to diversify your own efforts.
Visibility
If your site becomes a Favorite Link it gets displayed on 101 Newsletter Answers as well as being listed on
one or more of our other 101 Answers
sites. Also, your link remains in our link directory sending you traffic for as long
as your site retains our link. We never arbitrarily remove a Favorite Link no
matter how much our site might grow or how busy it gets.
Readymade Link Options
We have a number of links already made up to make it easy for you to choose an
appropriate one. Click here to go to our Link
Resources page.

We judge the suitability of sites for inclusion in our link directories according to the
following criteria:
- Relevance—has data relating to newsletters, content, publishing, writing,
small business, or the Internet that might be of particular value to anyone involved
with newsletters.
- Usefulness—has unique or original data, or a useful and well
maintained collection of data sourced from elsewhere.
- Professionalism—has reasonably good grammar, correct spelling, sensible
layout, straight-forward navigation etc.
- Responsibility—does not include extreme views such as race, gender or
religious hate, nor a prevalence of foul language, gratuitous violence, pornography etc.
Title
Preferably, the home page HTML Meta Tag, if done properly (<TITLE>Site
Name</TITLE>). Not a description. For example, if the title is 'Aunt Kath's
Fruit Pies', that is exactly what visitors will expect to see prominently displayed on the
page after clicking the link. All words in titles are usually capitalized. Avoid exclamation
marks. Maximum characters allowed, including spaces: 75.
Description
Once again, we prefer the Meta Tag, if done properly (<META
NAME="Description" CONTENT="Blah blah blah">). For example:
"Delicious home-made pies baked the traditional way using all natural ingredients.
Overnight home deliveries a specialty." (but do not include quotation marks).
Capitalize only the first words of sentences and proper names. No exclamation marks or
'funky' punctuation allowed. Maximum permissible characters, including spaces: 200. We will
truncate it if it's longer.
Site Address
Preferably, the URL (Internet address) of the default (Home) page. For example http://www.yoursite.com
or perhaps http://www.somehost.com/~auntkath (some hosts still use the tilde to signify a
site). You may indicate a specific page (such as http://www.yoursite.com/pies) but
this will only be acceptable if there is good reason given. Maximum number of characters to
a URL: 255.
Our Link
To trade links, you need to put a link on your site that points to ours. It must be reachable directly from the home page by
means of a pointer such as a menu item ('Links', for example). You then need to specify the page
on your site where our link appears. We will reciprocate with a link on one of our sites to
yours, if your site is deemed appropriate. Once approved, we undertake to keep your site
listing displayed for as long as you display ours, and not to remove it without informing
you (provided the site's theme remains the same and your contact address is current). This
undertaking applies no matter how busy our site might become (and therefore, how much
traffic we might send you). Not only that but, if we deem your site to be particularly
appropriate in some way, we might elevate it to Favorite Link status and display it
on the 101 Newsletter Answers site.
Important Email Information
To lessen the chances of email addresses falling prey to address harvesting software (as
used by spammers) we avoid showing them in full. Instead, we only show prefixes (what
comes before '@'). Please be sure to add the @ and (usually) 101newsletteranswers.com.
